You might like SportRabbit (sportrabbit.com) because it makes it easier to find the sporting goods you’re shopping for: You plug your zip code and the category, brand, or specific product you’re looking for into the search engine; it tells you which Twin Cities stores have what you want, and gives you their phone numbers, addresses, directions, and a map. You can even specify how far from home you’re willing to drive.
Stores, especially smaller independents and specialty shops, like the site because it levels the playing field, so to speak, between them and big chains like Dick’s and Sports Authority.
2nd Wind just signed on with SportRabbit, which now represents more than 100 local stores, including Nevada Bob’s, Play It Again, and Midwest Mountaineering. The site was launched by Cale Loken, whose nine years at Sports Authority trying to help customers find items the store didn’t carry or have in stock were the start of a business plan.
